Hey there, #Quantum Mastodon!

We're planning to have a portable recording kit at #QIP2023. 🎙️ Who should we talk to while we're there?

Please share this widely and let us know all of your suggestions - we'd love to know who you'd like to hear from!

I use #Tusky 🦣 as my #Mastodon :mastodon: client on #Android :android:

Version 20.0 was #released today and I'm trying it ⚗️

I like that you can now:
• follow #hashtags simply by clicking on them
• set the #focus point of an image before posting
• set the #language of a post in the compose view
• see instance #rules during the login process

It also now support Android 13 #themeable app icon :androidalt:

Quantum computing hurts my head 🤯 In my new podcast series TECHnically Possible I talk to @azariah about how it can be used to solve climate change using mayonnaise and beach balls....or something. Listen for yourself. Subscribe.

Please help us test the first release candidate for scikit-learn 1.2.0:

pip install scikit-learn==1.2.0rc1

In particular, if you happen to maintain a project with a dependency on scikit-learn we would love it if you could test your project against that release and report any regression to our issue tracker on github.com/scikit-learn/scikit before we release 1.2.0 final in a week or two.

Here is the changelog: scikit-learn.org/1.2/whats_new

TIL: The Littlest JupyterHub uses a systemd-based spawner that leverages the MemoryLimit property of transient systemd services to allocate a per-user RAM limit. Awesome work by @yuvipanda

@brianpjcronin TIL that the real bear from this story didn’t go on a drug-fueled rampage but simply died 20 minutes after ingesting the cocaine 🐻💔
The rest of the cocaine did misteriously disappear though

@7im what are your thoughts about treating others how *they'd* like to be treated? I might have different needs than the next person.

Having now been on #Mastodon for 1 month, a few observations:

- Mastodon makes me realize how much the #Twitter algorithm maximized user outrage to boost engagement for profit. Gross. Here, my feed is interesting & supportive.

- There's a culture of kindness - at least so far. It's extremely appealing & should be normalized on & offline.

- Beyond reactions to toots, people share songs, poetry & ask great questions. I can't remember the last time I found social media to be fun.

Autumn in #seattle. I don’t recall fall leaves sticking around this long in years past.

Alright, I did some HDR stuff and I think I managed to pull some nice details out of our good friend M31. I also have a decent amount of dual narrowband data, so I'd love to be able to pop those little red star-forming regions...but how? I've tried a bunch of PixelMath things and haven't managed to get it without making the whole image overly red. TIA for your suggestions!

Hello, Las Vegas! I’m here for #reinvent2022. If you’re in town and in the #cloud, I’d love to learn from your experience and share a bit of mine!

Still time to register for "Physics in Advent", an advent calendar with 24 simple experiments and physics mysteries to spark interest in #physics ... and you can win prizes, too! physics-in-advent.org #PhysicsInAdvent #PhysikImAdvent
